Abstract
The students’ problems in learning English speaking skill generally because lack of vocabulary, feeling afraid to speak and make mistakes due to their spoken language full of grammatical errors. Moreover, the learning media is not interesting that make the students are not motivated to practice speaking effectively. The objective of this study is to improve the students’ speaking skill through Video Blog (Vlog) media at the tenth grade of SMK Muhammadiyah Bumiayu in the academic year of 2022/2023. Therefore, the design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kemmis and McTaggart in Burns by using CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method. The study collected data with qualitative through observations, interviews, and tests. Therefore the subject in this study is the students of X AKL(Akuntansi dan Keuangan Lembaga) in SMK Muhammadiyah Bumiayu with 23 students, there were 21 females and 2 males. The study’s results show that the students’s speaking skill was improved with the mean of instrument test in meeting 1 of cycle 1 was 47,4 while the mean of instrument test in meeting 2 of cycle 2 was 75.6. It means, there were 28,2 point improvements toward students speaking score in 2 cycles. That is also proved by the increasing of pre-test and post-test average. The pre-test’s mean was 43,5 and the post-test’s mean was 77. The improvement is 19 out of 23 students who have passed the KKM. Thus, it can conclude that using Video Blog (Vlog) media can improve the students speaking skill in the class X AKL of SMK Muhammadiyah Bumiayu in the academic year 2022/2023. It means, this study can be a reference and motivation for the readers. The writer hopes this research can increase the knowledge about teaching English especially how to use vlog media as interesting learning media and the writer expected this study can be useful in the world of educational. Furthermore, the next researchers can be used this study as a reference for better research, especially in class action research.
