Abstract

The objective of the study is to describe the students’ perception toward lecturer’s feedback in writing class at the fifth semester of English education study program Peradaban University in the academic year 2016/2017. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The techniques of data collection werequestionnaire, interview and documentation.This study found out four indicators, those are the form of feedback, the clarity of feedback, the students feeling after accepting feedback and the students’ action after accepting feedback. The result showed that the form of feedback, for the direct feedback, 90% students expressedthe positive perception, where thestudents likes the form of feedback when the lecturer’s used red pen to underline and circle to the students’ mistakes by providing the correct answer in their writing. For indirect feedback, only 10% of the students expressed the positive perception, the studentslike if the lecturer used red pen to underlines and circlesto the students’ mistakes in writing without giving the correct form. For the clarity of feedback, 97%students expressed the positive perception, where feedback put by the lecturer can be read and is esay to be understood. The students’ feeling after accepting feedback, 94% students expressedthe positive perception, the students have been motivated to improve their writing skill after they know their score. For the students action after accepting feedback, 94% students gave the positive perception, they would like to try and revise the mistakes in writing. Meanwhile, the students try to correct answer and ask their friends after they get unclear feedback from the lecturer.
