Abstract
The aim of this study was to describe Teaching English and learning strategies used at SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School Zam-Zam Cilongok. This was a descriptive qualitative study in which data were taken from interview, observation and documentation. The technique of data analysis was data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the result of the study, the study found out that Teaching English and learning strategies used at SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School Zam-Zam Cilongok was effective teaching and learning strategies used. The students were able disciplined in classroom, the students enthusiastic in classroom, more active and independent making grouping discussion for students in classroom, the result of the research found that three strategy that the teacher used, discussion, drilling and question answer. Students can develop about idea and skill the students. Drilling strategies, students to get what skills have been learned. The writer looked the student exercises such as writing they are very able develop his abilities. Question and Answer strategies, the teacher able to know how far their students understand what the teacher has given to them.
