Abstract
In this research, the writer discusses speech acts in the utterance of main character in “Frozen” movie. The aims of this research are to find out the context and classification of locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary act, and to understand the interpretation of the dialogue between speaker and hearer. In order to focus on the topic, the writer limits the data, the writer uses descriptive qualitative and Simak Bebas Libat cakap (SBLC) as the method. The writer uses two philosopher’s theories, who are James R. Hurford’s and John Searle’s theories to identify the utterances spoken by Anna portrayed in locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary act. The writer uses eight steps to analyse the data. Firstly, the writer downloads the script from the website. Secondly, the writer re-writes the script. Thirdly, the writer watches the movie. Fourthly, the writer identifies locutionary act in spoken by Anna. Fifthly, the writer identifies illocutionary act in spoken by Anna. Sixthly, the writer identifies perlocutionary act in spoken by Anna. Seventhly, the writer describes each analyzed. The last, the writer draws the conclusion. For the result of the analysis of locutionary act, the first dominant types is constative which contains 249 utterances, the second dominant types is performative which contains 22 utterances. The analysis of illocutionary act, the first dominant types is directive which contains 103 utterances, the second type is assertive which contains 100 utterances, the third dominant types is expressive which contains 43 utterances, the last dominant types is commissive which contains 5 utterances. The analysis of perlocutionary act, the first dominant types is effect which contains 222 utterances, the last dominant type has no effect which contains 29 utterances
